Granite...
Granite, the "natural" choice in countertops
Granite is quarried from the earth's crust and is considered one of the oldest building materials we currently use. It is 100% natural and it is one of the hardest stones next to diamonds. A composition of quartz, feldspar, and mica makes granite the hardest natural material available for countertops. Different colors and veining naturally set granite apart from other manufactured solid surfaces.
Scratch Resistance
Scratching polished granite is nearly impossible. Essentially it will take a diamond or another piece of granite to harm the surface of your countertop.
Stain Resistance
Visit any cemetery and you will see that polished granite is extremely durable and stain resistant. Manufactured products representatives will try to create a vision of a beautiful countertop gone bad by a stain, however we do not anticipate any stains penetrating our surfaces. In the event a stain occurs it can be removed by using a poultice or "past draw out" of the stone. Granite needs to be sealed to prevent it from staining. Sealing your countertops is as easy as taking your car for an oil change and can be complete in a matter of minutes. Spray on, wait 20 minuets and wipe off.
Heat & Bacteria Resistance
Granite is heat resistant for your everyday kitchen needs. Placing hot pots or bake-ware on your granite countertop will not burn or damage them. Granite will not harbor bacteria any more than a laminate surface. Please use an anti-bacterial soap to wash your granite if you are concerned.
